Megan McDonald, a senior finance student, was among the national awardees this year. She earned a $2,500 scholarship from Tau Sigma, the honor society for transfer students.
McDonald is president of 蹤獲扦-Dearborns Beta Sigma chapter of Tau Sigma. As president, she has worked to strengthen the chapters social and community service activities.
I knew when I joined Tau Sigma that I eventually would run for president because I wanted to do everything I could to make transfer students feel at home on campus, said McDonald, who transferred from Schoolcraft Community College.
She also made connections with transfer students on a national scale. McDonald and the chapters vice president, Branden Bilicki, gave a business development presentation at Tau Sigmas 2014 national conference in San Antonio.
Outside of Tau Sigma, McDonald is captain of the womens varsity cross country team and earned Champions of Character and NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors. She was selected as a 2015 Difference Maker and was a member of Honors Transfer Innovators.
Megan represents not only our chapter well, but also 蹤獲扦-Dearborn. She stepped into the presidents role last year and dove right in with all that she wanted the chapter to accomplish, said Tau Sigma Adviser Rand Kazanji. With Megan and the rest of the executive board, our chapter continues to grow within the transfer student population. It's an honor to advise such an outstanding organization at 蹤獲扦-Dearborn.
