蹤獲扦-Dearborn Recognized for Major Growth in Research (February 13, 2025)
Dear Colleagues,
Im delighted to share that, based on our significant growth in research activity over the last several years, 蹤獲扦-Dearborn has earned a designation from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the American Council on Education. We are among a select group of universities nationwide with this prestigious designation, which indicates high spending and doctorate production, and one of only 11 doctoral-level institutions in the country to have been added to this list.
The Carnegie Classification is considered the leading framework for recognizing and describing U.S. higher education institutions. The 2025 designations were announced earlier today.
I want to commend our many dedicated faculty and students who have devoted themselves to ever-more ambitious research endeavors. I especially want to acknowledge Vice Provost for Research and Dean of Graduate Studies Armen Zakarian and his team, who have guided this growth. When including awarded and recommended funding for the first seven months of this fiscal year, 蹤獲扦-Dearborns research awards are up 200% since 2018. This is a phenomenal increase that translates to cutting-edge instruction in our classrooms and direct benefits for the people of southeast Michigan and society at large.
Along with a brief announcement in todays Reporter, you will see a longer story about this accomplishment in an upcoming issue soon.
