Name:  Jasmine Stallion
Position:  Administrative Specialist, Mathematics and Statistic Department; Women and Gender Studies
Time at ÂÜÀòÉç-Dearborn: 2 months

What does a typical workday look like for you?

There is never a typical day in the department. In administration, everyday is different. Going into month three at ÂÜÀòÉç-Dearborn, my day-to-day does consistently involve learning the systems within the department and building relationships.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I enjoy being able to make everyone’s day a little easier by assisting with the operations of the department. I love getting to know the faculty, staff, and students across the college.

What was your first job?

My first job was in college. I worked with the marketing department. I planned events for the cafeterias while creating marketing ideas for those events.

What do you do to relax?

I love reading books, listening to music, and binge watching tv shows.

If you could have any one skill or talent that you don’t already have, what would it be?

I would love to be able to graphic design! Currently, Canva is my best friend, but I would love to learn how to use Photoshop and Illustrator.

What’s the proudest moment of your life?

Graduating college was a huge deal for me. I worked very hard. At one point, I was going to school full time and had three part time jobs.

If we were to create a ÂÜÀòÉç-Dearborn playlist, what song would you want to include?

That’s a tough question! I love music! The first song that comes to mind is What A Friend by Detroit Collective Music.

Where is your favorite place on campus?

My office! I have made it into my own space. Everyone says that they feel comfy walking into the room.

What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I started a business called Detroit Collective with my husband and one of our friends. We write music and a couple songs from our album that released in 2024 was recommended to be under consideration for a grammy.

What quote or slogan do you live by?

Getting wisdom is the most important thing you can do. And whatever else you do, develop good judgement.

What’s one thing you wish you had known when you were a teenager?

Don’t be afraid to pivot. Sometimes pivoting is necessary to move forward.
