Effective Fall 2023 Term, to accept your offer of graduate admission, you will need to submit a non-refundable enrollment deposit.  This deposit is credited to your student account and applied toward your first term’s bill.*

You have to pay your enrollment deposit before you can register for courses or apply for a student visa.

* The enrollment deposit does not apply to current undergraduate students who are following the Accounting 4+1 option.

Watch for an email from [email protected] to the email address you provided on your application for admission. Follow the instructions to set up your University of Michigan uniqname. Your uniqname is required to access important resources, including University email and the course registration system.

Begin checking your email at  as soon as you set up your uniqname.  From now on, all university correspondence will be sent to your [email protected] address.

• Review the first-term course recommendations we attached to your admission email from the College of Business. Note the Course Reference Number (CRN) associated with each course.
• Newly-admitted international students:  you must email your course choices to us at [email protected].  This applies to your first semester in the College of Business only.
• All other students:  register for your courses at .

• Dropping, adding, and withdrawing:
  • You may drop or add courses throughout the drop/add period. However, keep in mind that many faculty restrict registration after their courses have met for the first time. Group projects often begin during the first class session.
  • If you decide not to attend classes at all after registering, you must officially withdraw by the drop/add deadline in order to avoid paying tuition and fees. Read the Registrar's detailed .

The College of Business uses a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) instructional model for graduate education. We recommend all graduate students purchase a laptop computer. Laptops are now required in several courses, which are noted each semester in the College's graduate course schedules.

A University ID card, or MCard, is required for access to several university services on campus.  After you register for courses, you may obtain a card in person at the University Center.

Online students don't need an MCard, but they can get one if they wish to at their earliest convenience.

Obtain your parking permit if you will be taking courses on campus.

• Tuition, fees and payment
  Tuition and fees are due shortly after the semester begins. You do not have to pay your tuition bill when you register for courses.  

Most students who have lived, worked, or attended a college or university outside the state of Michigan will be required to apply for classification as a Michigan resident. Review the  for qualifying for resident (in-state) tuition. We recommend you submit your residency  at least three months before your first term of enrollment, if possible, in order to ensure your case is resolved before the start of the semester.

If you are classified as a non-Michigan resident, you may qualify to receive the Non-Resident Tuition Scholarship, which covers most of the difference between resident and non-resident tuition.
