The University of Michigan - Dearborn officially acknowledges that it has signed, returned, and fully executed the Certification and Agreement for the Student Portion on May 8, 2020 and the Institution portion of funds on May 15, 2020. The University of Michigan - Dearborn received $6,989,129 under Section(a)(1) of the CARES Act and assures the public that we will provide no less than 50% or $3,494,565 for Emergency Financial Aid Awards to students. 

The total amount of Emergency Grants to Students as of June 30, 2022: $3,494,565

Estimated total number of eligible students is: 6,160

Total number of students who have received CARES Emergency Grants: 2,296

The University of Michigan - Dearborn created an application for students to submit. The application included instructions and the type of eligible qualifying expenses. Eligible qualifying expenses include but are not limited to food insecurities, housing insecurities, course materials, technology needs, medical care and childcare. All students were notified by email of their eligibility. Students are also encouraged to set up direct deposit to expedite payment. Applications are evaluated weekly.

The University of Michigan – Dearborn received $12,130,348 under Section 314(a)(1) of CRRSSA, and assures the public that we will provide no less than $3,494,565 for Emergency Grants to Students.

Total amount of Emergency Grants to Students to date: $3,494,565

Total number of students that have received Emergency Grants through September 30, 2022: 1,604

Estimated total eligible students through June 30, 2022: 8,307

The University of Michigan - Dearborn has awarded funds in several methods. First, an application was created for students to submit. The application included instructions and the type of eligible qualifying expenses. Eligible qualifying expenses include but are not limited to food and/or housing insecurities, technology needs, medical or dental care, car repairs,  financial hardships, and childcare. All students are notified by email of the decision of the application submitted. Applications are evaluated weekly. Second, block grants were provided to students who were enrolled in the summer 2021 semester and demonstrated need. Need was determined by using the information provided on the FAFSA application. Third, students with outstanding balances were offered grant funds. The student self-selected to use the grant toward their balance or paid directly to them. Students are also encouraged to set up direct deposit to expedite payment.

The University of Michigan – Dearborn received $21,370,771, under Section 203(a)(a) of ARP, and assures the public that we will provide no less than $10,709,416 for Emergency Grants to Students.

Total number of students that have received Emergency Grants through September 30, 2022: 4,296

Estimated total eligible students through June 30, 2022: 7,960
