CECS students are involved in a wide variety of student organizations at 萝莉社-Dearborn.
We have nearly two dozen clubs, teams, and professional organizations that will challenge you to problem solve, make connections, and prepare you for a fulfilling career in engineering.
CECS Honor Societies
APM is the only nationally accepted industrial engineering honor society that confers recognition upon the student of industrial engineering who has shown exceptional academic interests and abilities in the field. Our chapter encourages any movement which advances the best interest of the industrial engineering field. We work together with the Institute of Industrial Engineers and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers to further unify the student body of the IMSE Department in presenting its needs and ideals to the faculty.
Eta Kappa Nu is an honor society that is for electrical and computer engineering. Eta Kappa Nu was founded in 1904 by Maurice Carr at the University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign, however the Theta Tau Chapter, at the University of Michigan - Dearborn, was not founded until 1981. The members of the Theta Tau Chapter have dedicated themselves to improving their school, their community, and the engineering field. They strive towards this goal through community service and by providing services to students.
Pi Tau Sigma is a Mechanical Engineering Honor Society, instituted in order to establish a closer bond of fellowship among its members which will result in mutual benefit to those men and women in the study and in the profession of mechanical engineering.
Pi Tau Sigma's core values are: Integrity (soundness of character and moral conduct), Service (serving the mechanical engineering profession and the community), and Leadership (being foremost and fostering initiative through example in a professional manner).
Honor societies are associations of primarily collegiate members and chapters whose purposes are to encourage and recognize superior scholarship and/or leadership achievement either in broad fields of education or in departmental fields at either undergraduate or graduate levels.
Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE) is the first and only international honor society for the computing sciences. UPE was founded in 1967 as an honor society for the computing sciences by students at Texas A&M University. Since then UPE has grown to include over 150 institutions. Upsilon Pi Epsilon is an independent organization which has received recognition from both the ACM (1967) and the IEEE-CS (1992) as an official honor society. Furthermore, UPE is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS).
It is the express purpose of Upsilon Pi Epsilon to promote the computing and information disciplines and to encourage their contribution to the enhancement of knowledge. The mission of UPE is to recognize academic excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in the computing and information disciplines. Membership in UPE is a distinct honor which is recognized throughout the computing community.
CECS Professional Societies and Teams
is a professional engineering and technical sciences sorority founded in 1983 that promotes friendship, leadership and professionalism to all members of the organization, the community and our professions. Alpha Omega Epsilon strives for scholarship and academic achievement. The sisters create a friendly, warm atmosphere where integrity, character, and self-confidence can foster.
Founded in 1947, the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) is an international scientific and educational organization dedicated to advancing the art, science, engineering, and application of information technology, serving both professional and public interests by fostering the open interchange of information and by promoting the highest professional and ethical standards.
Here at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, we established a new student chapter in 1995. Our only requirements for membership are an interest in computing and some connection to 萝莉社-Dearborn.
The student chapter of ACM is committed to providing members with an unparalleled and fun learning environment. One of our teams finished in the Top 25 at the 2002 ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest. Our student chapter hosts MPCon, the largest LAN Party in the State of Michigan.
The is an interdisciplinary national society in response to a manifest need to provide a society that would represent both biomedical and engineering interests. The ongoing vision of the Society is to be recognized as the preeminent professional society for biomedical engineering and bioengineering. The Society's mission is to provide value to its members and other constituencies by promoting the increase and utilization of biomedical engineering and bioengineering knowledge and by working for the advancement of the profession. The Biomedical Engineering Society Chapter at the University of Michigan Dearborn is one of the hundred other chapters around the country, and was founded in October of 2011.
Dearborn Campus Engineers (DCE) promotes the engineering and technical interests of our members and the engineering body at 萝莉社-Dearborn. We aim to incorporate core values of Education, Industry, and Culture in an inclusive manner that is open to all CECS students and is an organization that advocates for student success.

Established in 1994, is a student-led team that designs, builds, and races a formula-style racecar. 萝莉社-Dearborn Racing competes in Formula SAE competitions throughout the US and Canada, along with local autocross events. Formula SAE is a student design competition organized by SAE International. This organization promotes careers and excellence in engineering as it encompasses all aspects of the automotive industry including research, design, manufacturing, testing, developing, marketing, management and finances. 萝莉社-Dearborn Racing welcomes engineering students and students of other disciplines with a passion for the automotive industry.
We are a student organization that each year to compete in the Series which is held in many cities throughout the United States. Specifically, we compete in the Formula Electric Series that is currently held in Lincoln, Nebraska. At this competition our team is evaluated in many events such as acceleration, endurance, and other dynamic events. There are also static events that we participate in such as cost and design reports, as well as a business presentation.
Human Factors & Ergonomic Society Student Chapter is organized to serve the needs of the human factors & Ergonomics profession at the University of Michigan, Dearborn. Its purpose is to promote and advance the understanding of the human factors involved in the design, manufacturing, HMI, HCI environments and devices of all kin d through the interchange of knowledge and methodology in the behavioral, biological, and physical sciences and in Industrial, Automotive, Computer Science and other relevant Engineering disciplines.
is a technical professional society for engineers, computer scientists and technology professionals with student branches established at leading universities around the world. The IEEE Student Branch at the University of Michigan-Dearborn is a student organization on campus. This Student Branch was revived by several dedicated engineering students in the school year 2003-04. Currently, the 萝莉社-Dearborn IEEE is a very active student organization and is striving to achieve the reputation of the largest technical/professional student organization at 萝莉社-Dearborn.
IIE provides leadership in developing industrial engineering; enhancing the capabilities of those who are involved in or manage the application, education, training, research or development of industrial engineering; and in representing the industrial engineering profession.
The Intelligent Systems Club welcomes students of all majors to get hands on experience with fabricating and programming autonomous robots. ISC consists of a variety of smaller teams, each participating in their own competitions or projects. Teams build robots to autonomously plow snow, navigate obstacle courses, speed along a race track, and much more. This club is a great opportunity for applying the engineering and computer science skills learned in class while also having fun. The mission of the Michigan Aeronautical Science Association-Dearborn is to develop rockets for the purpose of applied education, professional development, cultivating a spirit of interdisciplinary teamwork, and expanding the boundaries of aerospace science. Each year the team builds a high powered rocket for the annual Spaceport America Cup where we compete against teams from across the globe to see who can build the most innovative payload and launch closest to 10,000 ft.

New and innovative project ideas are generated and implemented throughout the year on the chapter, regional and national levels. Some of NSBE's present activities include tutorial programs, group study sessions, high school/junior high outreach programs, technical seminars and workshops, a national communications network (NSBENET), two national magazines (NSBE Magazine and the NSBE Bridge), an internal newsletter, a professional newsletter (The Career Engineer, a supplement in the NSBE Magazine), resume books, career fairs, awards, banquets and an annual national convention.
