We are pleased to announce that the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) at the University of Michigan-Dearborn (������-Dearborn) has joined the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD). The NCFDD is a nationally recognized, independent organization that provides online career development and mentoring resources for faculty, post-docs, and graduate students. The institutional membership was funded by a partnership between CECS and the Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at ������-Ann Arbor, and makes these resources available to all ������-Dearborn faculty.

Institutional Membership provides all faculty, graduate students, and post-docs free on-demand access to NCFDD resources, including:

• – includes productivity tips
• – curriculum and special topic based led by NCFDD and guest experts
• – led by expert facilitators
• – network, participate in writing challenges, problem-solve, and share information
• – slides and audio recordings of webinars from the last year
• – learn about the job search process
• – services for coaching, editing, and recommended readings

NCFDD’s core curriculum focuses on the development of key skills and strategies that lead to academic success. Training is available to members that establish and develop success habits which include:

• Semester planning
• Aligning time with priorities
• Developing a consistent daily writing practice
• Mastering academic time management
• Moving from resistance to writing
• Learning the art of saying “no”
• Cultivating a networks of mentors, sponsors, and collaborators
• Overcoming academic perfectionism
• Engaging in and resolving conflict in a healthy way
• Strategies for dealing with stress and rejection

To claim your free Institutional Membership and take full advantage of the resources, please complete the following steps:

1. Go to
2. Choose University of Michigan-Dearborn from the drop-down menu
3. Select “Activate my Membership”
4. Complete the registration from using your “@umich.edu” email address
5. Go to your @umich.edu email to find a confirmation/welcome email. Click “Activate Account” in the email.
